 | | Chocolate pencils from Nendo | Apr 14, 2008 | That sounds good! Imagine yourself thinking over a project and biting bit by bit your pencils, enjoying the alluring taste of chocolate. (This unless you hate chocolate or have some interdictions to it.) How the idea came to life?Nendo (known for its out-of-standards solutions) has impressed Tsujiguchi Hironobu - a patissier which stands behind sound dessert shops such as Mont St. Claire and Le Chocolat de H. Tsujiguchi - to create chocolate pencils. At its turn Nendo inspired by the above mentioned creation invented special tableware for the new dessert. Both invention complete each other and look extremely innovative. The nice thing about these chocolate pencils is that they come with different content of cacao, so you can enjoy a variety of chocolate blends. If you have a little more imagination then you may use these delicious chocolate sticks not just to eat as they are, but also as decorations for your cakes, ice-cream, etc. You can easily do this with the attached 'pencil sharpener', which manages artistic filings! At the same time the Nendo plate will complete the image of your dessert, and you'll be the God of the desserts! Made for…So, if you don't know how to get rid of annoying pencil filings, just eat them! Interesting way to get rid of wastes! Maybe in the nearer future the humanity will make it possible for all wastes to be eatable!? Again, if you are one of those people out there who enjoy chewing on the end of the pencil, but hate the rubber eraser aftertaste, here is the solution! Dilemmas!I wonder what will happen if the people get addicted to the pencil-chewing process. You see, chocolate creates some addiction (as any yummy piece). So would some be in control of their desires? Would, at last, people be in control of their weight? I just can imagine the reaction of people in the next-to-the-office bar when I'd get a pencil out of my pocket and pill some filings in my ice-cream. They would definitely think that I'm out of my mind. Besides, guys I'd not recommend taking with you chocolate pencils everywhere, especially not in your pocket - it will simply get melt and mess your clothes. Anyway the idea is very bold. Clever stuff, simple reference, nicely done! That's my final verdict. | | | SanDisk fuzing color into MP3 lineup | Mar 13, 2008 | Let's talk about some gadgets we always have fun with and some really great companies that work hard to do our life even more interesting. I mean MP3 music players and companies such as SanDisk! The new concept of the SanDisk is to fuse some color into their MP3 lineup with the introduction of their new Sansa Fuze MP3 Player. The new MP3 player will come in a variety of colors: black, red, pink and blue. The 8GB version will be available in silver too. Specifications The Sansa Fuze: - supports MP3, WAV, Audible and WMA formats (both protected and unprotected format)
- supports online subscription services such as Rhapsody To Go, Napster and eMusic
- playsMPEG-4 video and JPEG photos formats
- is powered by the internal rechargeable battery with capacity of holding a charge for up to 24 hours for audio and 5 hours for video
- has a microSD slot which is available to further expand the storage capability
- has an FM radio
The Sansa Fuze player is expected in the U.S. at the beginning of April. Other countries including Canada and Europe will benefit of the player latter this spring.They promise 2Gb, 4Gb and 8GB capacities. The expected price is US.99, US.99 and US9.99 respectively. Some reflections over itThe general opinion is that it is a nice looking player at a very affordably price. Besides there are few players capable of playing music and video, supporting online subscriptions and going under US0. The support of a microSD card is also a strong point, as the everlasting issue of a player (with such specs) is 'not enough space'! You may enjoy great possibilities of a player, but when it last only several hours it makes you feel angry. So, the longevity of the player is an always welcome feature. So it comes that SanDisk has made a name on its flash storage products, which makes me trust them on this! The second really great think about the Sansa Fuze player is its affordable price. Let's be honest, there are several music players to compete with the SanDisk's one (such as iPod), but there is one area most of them loose positions. That's the area of price! It is always about how many features you buy for the money?! Why pay more when you get the same features with the same quality at a better price? | | | The Rolling Bench | Feb 08, 2008 | Didn't you notice that most part of our lives are meant to obey the Murphy's Law? For example, the desire to have a refreshing walk in the park comes mainly after a rainstorm when the benches are wet. Everything feels more pleasurable than usually: fresher air, brighter sights, greener trees, clearer sky, cleaner pathways... everything calls for you but the soggy benches! If you ever though of this then know - you are not alone in the Universe. More than that, there are people who decided to do something about it. Korean designers Sungwoo Park, Yoonha Paick, Jongdeuk Son, Banseok Yoon, Eunbi Cho and Minjung Sim have come up with a really innovative solution to the problem. Call it as they do The Rolling Bench! What is this all about? The Rolling Bench looks like an ordinary bench with the exception of a winding handle. You can find it on the right side of the bench. The handle rotates the seat surface to expose the dry/clean one. So, after a rain shower, just turn the winding handle and, please, have a sit! So far so good, but some may say: in order to have such benches we have to give up the idea of backrests. Well, didn't I tell you about the Murphy's Law at the beginning of this post? Besides, you can only pray that there is enough time between the rain "sessions" so that the bench can get dry in time. I wonder would England and Ecuadorian countries accept the concept of the Rolling Bench? :) Maybe just in case the seat surface is made of plastic, or some material that retains no moisture. | | | This Phillipe S+arck Watch | Jan 16, 2008 | Wristwatches are never out of fashion! This is probably the secret of all times manufacturers would always profit of. Let me introduce you a new wristwatch by Fossil – Phillipe S+arck Watch! It is a successful continuation of their Philippe Starck designed wristwatch line. This comes to complete models like The Hard-Starck, The Sand Dial, The Dish Digital and The L.E.D. The above distinguished by their innovative design – all of them come in different colors! Some Specs
The Phillipe S+arck Watch brings some brilliant design innovations too. It offers a cross-shaped display. The time is read vertically while the day and date is displayed horizontally. Entirely, the design is characterized by minimalism! Why do I see it that way? Well, it has really austere design and as I know initially it had to come only white and black, then I saw some green and orange variants. Besides, the design is kept minimally thin to achieve the consistency of the brand. The case and strap is made of silicone making a perfect uni-body construction. The strap is fully adjustable hiding the pushers underneath the case, which makes it look and feel like a 'no-interruptions form'. The great thing about this model is that it fits men as well as women. Some might say that it looks somewhat sporty, well, to me it seams pretty neutral. Measures
The watch features the following measures: 36mm x 48mm x 10mm. PS.
Some shared the idea that Philippe Starck comes back to the LED technology again, which actually shows no innovation at all. Others tend to compare The Phillipe S+arck Watch to the Japanese Diode Wristwatch. So you are the one to decide what The Phillipe S+arck Watch is for you! | | | Spada Stone Skis | Dec 12, 2007 | Simon Jacomet and his team probably haven't expected such a success when designed now really popular Spada Stone Skis. Based in the village of Disentis, Switzerland, he got the Laurus of a great inventor. He even called his creation 'a special limited edition Spada skis'. The Spada is actually the Romanic word for sword. When I look at these skis they indeed remind me of some swords. Stone Skis are actually out of the regular skis. They are crafted using the most advanced technologies in the skis industry. Using stone in skis may sound savage! But let's say that the stone is not a usual one. It is a Grisons granite used on very smart bases. Actually, there has been applied the best characteristics of this stone. Due to Technocarbon of Munich’s new Carbon Fibre Stone technology, stone gets fantastic characteristics: it is flexible, extremely durable, resilient and compressive. The core of the skis is made of aluminum which is meant to dampen vibration. The skis also have very well calculated weight, which makes it possible to balance them. At the same time it can retain the shape indifferent of the vibrations' strength. The final masterpiece features extraordinary mobility and maneuverability. It has a perfect grip with the snow without rattling the wearer into the ground. Besides, it's good looking and smooth on the go. I haven't tried them yet, but these are the confessions of the ones who did. Initially, there were produced 500 pairs per year. But the popularity of these skis have settled its production on industry bases. So, swallow hard and hope to be one of the 500! P.S. And a final word from the masters (took from the Jacomet’s Zai website) “It makes fast and precise slaloms seem like child’s play, like effortlessly gliding on rails.” | | | ZINK Integrated Digital Camera/Printer | Nov 14, 2007 | Do you want to get instant photos without waiting forever until you print them? Have fun with the totally innovative ZINK Integrated Digital Camera/Printer! Call it if you want a "digital Polaroid". Printing on-the-go it is what it was made for! Zink, in fact, stands for zero ink, which means that the Zink Integrated Digital Camera/Printer bakes embedded dye crystals on to special Zink paper. This provides you with instant photos. The built-in 7-megapixel camera takes digital photos like any other digital camera. It has a 3x zoom and 2 inch screen. You can review your snaps on the display and only after that print them. The compact full color printer prints 2 by 3 inches (50 by 76 mm) photos! The great thing about this digital camera/printer is that your snaps can be stored on a SD card as it has a SD slot. Later you can display them on-line or e-mail them. Additional Features: - 7 Megapixel CCD with 3x Optical Zoom
- multiple capture/scene modes and flash modes
- 2.0" indoor/outdoor color display
- SD memory cards
- 2" x 3" borderless, high quality photos
- uses ZINK™ Paper. Available in sticky-back
- integrated, rechargeable battery
Of course, there is still a dilemma concerning how good a 7-megapixel sensor would be? Besides, many people might be unsatisfied with 2 x 3 inch prints. So if you are not too exigent to such issues then you should know that the Zink Integrated Digital Camera/Printer will cost you about $ 199 (£ 100). Anyway the dream to have a portable printer so that you could directly print out photos came true. It is a truly futuristic thing especially considering the fact that it doesn't use ink. They promised us Zink integrated digital camera/printer in late 2007, so I guess we should already stay in line! | | | Yu-Chiao Wang's Sun Tattoo | Oct 12, 2007 | I often wonder what else can people do to beautify their body? Since ancient times people used to paint their bodies and to glamorize their appearance using jewelry and make up. This first of all was an index of social statute. Not much changed these days! We still like to put on rings, bracelets, earrings, etc.; and we still paint out bodies calling it either tattoos, make up or body art. It seams there is nothing left to invent! Well, there actually is! The designer Yu-Chiao Wang comes up with the idea of a Sun Tattoo. It is actually about a 'wearable' cloth stencil – a robe, with a specific pattern. It requires to stay long enough in the sun or have a good use of UV rays to leave on the skin a beautiful tattoo. The stencil covers only a part of your body allowing sun to hit certain areas. So, why not grab a Sun Tattoo every let's say 3 months? I think it definitely can become a beauty trend. But watch out! Avoid baking too long, it can be dangerous. You should first consider the type of skin you have, because there are 'sun-unfriendly' skin types. Besides, it is recommended to try sun tattoo only after you have already been in the sun for some time the very season. Oh, and of course it’s better to use this beautifying technique with sunless tanning cream. Now, I assume that the result of this artistic–tan patterns can be not to ones particular tastes, nonetheless, Yu-Chiao Wang has generated a very original idea to treat our bodies. Of course, it might sound of no interest to people who are into the henna paintings and to those who are dark skinned. Well, we are all into something, isn't it? | | | Toshiba DPF7XSE Digital Photo Frame ? This Fall Novelty | Sep 06, 2007 | Imagine a photo frame that will display a new picture everyday! You don't even have to disassemble it and change the photo, it's all digital! I'd love to know that it can perform some slide shows, with some music background. This is pretty possible as it has all the features for that. You can make sure for yourself reading more details below!
The model is known as the DPF7XSE and features a 7" display with a 800 x 480 resolution. So far so good, but the frame supports JPEG, MP3, WMA, MPEG4, and DivX file formats! This means it can playback photos, music, ...even video – am I confusing something? (here is what I was talking about above). Also, the frame is provided with two 1 W stereo speakers, which is a clear clue that it isn't limited to displaying only stills.
What else? The frame has 256MB of internal memory and additionally is able to house SD, MMC, CF, and Memory Stick memory card formats. Further better, Toshiba DPF7XSE sports USB 2.0 connectivity, which means you can use external memory carriers and mass storage devices.
The frame is promised to come with an Infrared remote control, a 1.5m USB cable and an AC power adapter.
Many would have opted for WiFi too (for a full kitting), but I think that it has more than one would use. Besides, it looks just great on the wall! I bet it can serve as a fine design accessory too.
By the way, Toshiba has lately improved in surprising consumers with its laptop, HD DVD player and TV pricing. Now, it's the turn of this digital frame to spark a furor! The piece promises to be really competitive. All nice and promising, still I don't know how much will cost this luxury. So, let's wait for latter this fall to get it on the store shelves. | | | Shattered Lights Lamp | Aug 10, 2007 | Something I have noticed lately is the that people (mostly designers) tend to detach from standard shapes in designing something. The more unusual your creation looks, the greater interest it will raise. Anyway, it seams that designers take their ideas basically from nature, or maybe the human mind tends to compare everything it sees to something it already knows?! Quite a dilemma! The same thing with this truly beautiful lamp designed by Ira Rozhavsky (unknown to me designer)! The same thing, because people say it resembles an amoeba, whereas I see a slug :)! Thing number 1 I like about this gadget. I must admit, what I like the most about this piece is the fact that a great idea is put into life using truly cheap materials. The lamp is actually made of broken tempered glass coated with silicone. Simple and extremely smart! The effect of shattered lights is obtained with the help of white LEDs lined along the lamp's edge. Thing number 2 I like about this gadget. Its silicone-glass construction gives it elasticity. This means you can write yourself a designer patent and give your lamp whatever shape you want. Bending and folding it you'll notice that different lighting effects can be performed. The shattered glass makes it possible to create original reflections. So you may get different lightening for your room every single day. (The rhetorical question is: would you like slugs like these all around your house? :)) - Just the matter of taste! Thing number 3 I like about this gadget. Again, the great thing about this lamp is that even if half a world will purchase it, you'll still have an unique one because you bent it differently! And you may bend it differently every day! | | | Eyes Massager ? Make Your Eyes a Clear Mirror of Your Soul | Jul 13, 2007 | Sometimes eyes can tell more about a person than any other part of the body! What are your thoughts about when you see a person with red-rimmed eyes? Or have you ever met people with eyes which color you can't explain because they seam to be foggy? Have you lately looked at yourself in the glass? Someone would say: "Well, my eyes look just the same as my friends' ones!" That's right! Just the same because all of us are tired – all of us look like hamsters! What about the saying – eyes are the mirror of our souls? What about the fact that they are a indispensable part of human brain? It seams that we tend to forget about our eyes ...until it's too late. Glasses are fashionable and pretty efficient in protecting our sight, but is it enough? I know people who decided that it isn't and who take care and train their eyes just like any other muscle. One of the solutions they choose is Eye Massager. There are plenty of them, but right now I'm going to speak about the one I've tested. My thought is that an Eye Massager should massage (lol)! In case it has got some additional features then it is a pure benefit. The one in the photo has three main functions (I've tried them all): - vibration massage – feels like massaging impulses (strokes, vibrations, kneading)
- infrared heating – feels like a pleasurable mild temperature that can be combined with massaging strokes...hmmm pretty relaxing
- magnetic massage – you actually don't feel anything but the final result, which is a great sensation of relaxation
The main question after you try a device on yourself is either you want to use again or not! And this depends on the results you've got when using it for the very first time. What I have felt (after a full day of peering into PCs) was a great relief and a wigged out state of mind! It is simply extremely relaxing as if you had put a heavy burden off your eyes. It seams to be a good option to get rid of stresses and tension our eyes are exposed to. This Eyes Massager promises to lessen wrinkles and eyes fatigue; enhance blood micro-circulation; strengthen eye muscles; reduce eye bags, dark rings, swollen eyes; regulate lens ability; delay age related sight loss; etc. Seams a lot even for a smart device, however who knows it may justify itself in the long run!? |  | | USB Panic Button | Jun 28, 2007 |  What do you usually do when you get tired of your job, colleagues, and THE BOSS!? What do you do when you feel like your personality is peeled like a potato; your mind is juiced as an orange; and everybody gets on your nerves just like a pianist would do with a guitar? I used to escape stress by smoking a cigarette, or relieve my 'soul pain' in a gasp of fresh air. The best variant would probably be to go on a holiday far away – let's say on an island or a mountain. So far so good, but sometimes you can't afford a trip (be it the money issue or the importance of your duty) and the traditional 'cigarette' method doesn't work anymore! The rhetorical question -- what to do? -- pops up in your mind. Some smart guys have invented something less traditional, but with real feedback – PANIC BUTTON! This is a fancy peripheral which connects to your PC via a USB port. The funny thing is that its 'designers' have probably fallen asleep while creating its concept. That is because this gadget features a bulky yellow base with a big, fat, red button inscribed with the word "PANIC" on top. In other words A TOTAL LACK OF DESIGN! Of course, it is not about the way it looks, it is rather about the way it works! Meaning, by pressing the red button, the device is able to activate one of three different screen effects: - an Excel worksheet;
- a simulated bomb explosion;
- or a boss punch-out.
It is supposed to give you couple of seconds of relief before you get back to your work! The reality is that sooner or later you'll need a Panic Button for the very Panic Button, meaning you'll get bored of it. Perhaps, if it would have offered hundreds of screen options, instead of the three existing, then it would have gained more ground in our hearts?! But there is always someone like me to adore some silly, funny and useless gizmos. Therefore, it still makes a great gift for some of my friends... one more smile on their faces ( that's already a gift for me)! By the way, the USB Panic Button is available for about $ 17. | | | ZUSE Toaster Prints Love Messages | Jun 13, 2007 | One thing I know for sure is that people are creative and their creativity has no limits! Food sculptures has become something usual for us ...but what about toast stamping? Recently, I have turned around a ZUSE toaster that have definitely changed my perceptions about these toasters at all. The usually banal and useless (in my opinion) devises can print images and letterings! So, guys ZUSE is not anymore only about expensive furs, it is also about a compact toaster-printer. It is elaborated basing on early matrix printer principle and transferrers images with 12x12 pixels resolution onto toasts line by line. It burns black & white pictures! A number of pictures are stored in the toaster's memory and can be printed randomized. ZUSE is pretty compact and can be mounted onto the wall. The device is automatically activated when you slide in a slice of bread. Toast messaging is just a delight! I guess there is nothing cuter then to make the mood of your kids or friends without a single word with only some 'toast attention' :). Deliver breakfast in bed to your sweetie with a personalized message, like for example “More rest, dear”, or burn a personalized toast for your kid to take at school. I've got a lot of replies such as: "I like toasts, but printing on them is savage!' Well, nothing to comment here, but I know that there is no other device in my home to bring smile on my kid's face in the mornings. It is also a great way to have an already built in morning! The idea of a printing toaster is great from the beginning because it combines two important human instincts – instinct of getting fed and need to feel taken care of. People, why not to get rid of prejudices and simply enjoy toasting messages and delight ourselves and the Co?! In the modern world where words mean nothing, non-verbal interaction keeps emotions alive. | | | Flying Alarm Clock | May 11, 2007 | I, who head the army of heavy sleepers, and who permanently win the award of "always-late-to-work", will finally be brought to justice! I never thought that the Flying Alarm Clock or any gadget of this kind can be so efficient in getting me out of bed... until I tried it.
Well, my dear heavy sleepers comrades, you'll just have to get up when this little bug starts up! Because this annoying thing takes off and continuously flies all over the room until you hit the button. To make it clearer, it is not the very digital clock flying, it is a propeller-driven module which detaches of the base unit once the wake up time comes. So far so good. But it is too soon to give it a sigh of relief and don't even dare to think that it is the end of the story! This electronic mosquito will take of again.
The only way to get read of it is to have your butt out of bed! First, you'll have to find it, catch it and only then you can turn it off. In other words this little toy perfectly does its job!
By the way, you'd better get it turned off before it smashes your room flowers, lamp, books, etc. Besides, if you sleep with the windows open you might find yourself running to catch your 'bird' and even disturb your neighbors ...Heh! Waking up can be funny!
Oh, I've almost forgot! The best part of it is that the little propeller can rudely massage your body to fulfill its mission. Of course it won't leave you unconscious, but there is a slight danger that it can injure your eyes or bruise some exposed part of your body when running out of power and drop on you. Well, at least you'll be awake and out of your autopilot mode!
You probably should not be too scared of this funny gadget, as it already won a technology design award for its originality. So if it was awarded then it's not as dangerous as it seams to be. Besides, if you doubt the possibilities of Flying Alarm Clock you can always get back to the trusted method – put an old mechanical alarm clock in an iron pan!
To resume, let me say again that waking up is killing me and getting out of bed sucks even more. Why on earth there should be 'know-it-all' guys to invent Flying Alarm Clock and make me do this? Well, as wise men say – there will be plenty of time to sleep when we're dead. | | | BenQ X725 - Further Steps in Ultra-thin Technology | Apr 21, 2007 | BenQ has announced a new ultra-thin digital camera for fans of this slick gadgets. The new gadget got the code name BenQ X725.
Well, as you can fancy, the main feat of this camera is its thickness, or probably better to say the lack of it. So when describing the camera I would rather choose to say 0.5 inches (12.5 mm) thin, than 0.5 inches thick.
I guess you've seen the commercial, with the girl desperately trying to put her really tight jeans on, and when she does it, she easily slides her Motorola V3 into her back pocket. The BenQ X725 camera probably wouldn't slide that easily in any pocket, but I'm sure it's more comfortable to carry, than some other cameras.
The gadget is equipped with a new implementation fro BenQ, called Shake-Free system, which means you'll get sharper and more qualitative photos even when you shake the camera or when you can't hold it without any vibration, as when in a car for example.
The BenQ X725 camera is based on a 1/2.5 matrix with a 7 megapixel of picture quality. The Pentax lens takes care of everything related to qualitative amateur photos in this device.
The original specifications of the camera have many, many other wise things to say about the gadget, but I'll probably skip all of that, because I don't really know what they mean.
What I know is that the least you should have between you and your shooting target is about 15.7 inches (40 cm) in any other mode than macro mode, which requires at least 5.9 inches (15 cm).
As for the color temperature, it can be set automatically or chosen manually from different values, which are ISO 100/200/400/800/1600/4000.
The BenQ X725 can take photos with a resolution of 3072 × 2304, as well as filming small video clips with a standard resolution of 640 × 480 with 30 frames per minute. The files are stored on SD cards, or on the built-in 12 MB memory, which is not so much for a camera, making 7 megapixel photos. So when using the internal memory, be sure to set the photo quality on minimum.
What I like the most about this camera is its LCD display. I was always crazy about big "screen TVs" on cameras and the BenQX725 has implemented the biggest, or one of the biggest displays for a digital camera. I'm sorry! There were too many words in that sentence to say that the gadget is equipped with a 2.5 inch LCD display.
As for the zoom - it's a 4x optical zoom, which should be enough for amateur photography. In its file sharing abilities, among others, like taking the card out of the slot and using a card reader, or using the USB port, the gadget is equipped with the PictBridge printing technology. So If you have a PictBridge enabled printer, don't hesitate to use it.
And the last bits of information about the gadget: the average price in Europe is of about 170 Euros for the camera, which is about 0, so not that expensive for a camera. What you get for this money is a 3.58 × 2.36 × 0.5 inch camera, weighing about 0.26 pounds (120 grams). And you also get to use some power of choice, I mean you'll get to pick one of the black, perl, silver or red colored cases.
Enjoy the photo shooting! | | | The Heir of Motorola RAZR V3 Has Been Announced - Motorola RIZR Z3 | Apr 08, 2007 | Since last week the new mobile phone from Motorola, Motorizr Z3, has hit the market in the Unite States.
The MotoRIZR is considered to be the follower of the very popular Motorola RAZR V3 series, which was a few years ago was announced as the thinnest mobile phone ever (though very soon it got company from LG, Samsung and other brands).
The RIZR Z3 is a slider, which has a standard mobile phones keyboard under the upper sliding panel. Since the RIZR Z3 is the heir of the V3 RAZR, it's received some of its top qualities too. The main of these qualities could be mentioned the thinness. Although the RIZR Z3 is not that thin, but 15 mm is a very good index.
Despite these slick 0,6 inches (15 mm) thinness, it is worth mentioning that the engineers have stuffed into their little gadget many useful, and useless, functions. What would you say about the 2 megapixel camera integrated into it's case. I mean 0,6 inch thin and 1600 x 1200 pixel photo shooting - that's impressive! Don't forget the video clips - this is also good. You have a gadget in your pocket, that you don't event feel, and check all these great possibilities it has!
Back to the functions. The media files produced by the Motorola RIZR Z3 mobile phone can be stored on a microSD flash card. The gadget supports up to 2 GB memory on this type of flash cards. The bad thing is that you'll have to get yourself on of these, because the set includes a 128 MB card. I guess this was supposed to be joke. I mean what are 128 MB good for today? For a few files only...
 As for other super powers of the Motorola RIZR Z3, the Bluetooth wireless support and USB port for PC connectivity - not the thing to impress the audience with. MP3 and AAC audio files playback - every Chinese forged gadget has these abilities; but the Instant Messaging Services, including ICQ - this is something to satisfy the Internet chitchatters. They won't have to suffer anymore that they could possibly miss someone going online or off line.
So the Motorola Rizr Z3 will satisfy at least two groups of mobile phone lovers: those who can't stand thick gadgets and those who can't take their butt off their PC, just because the LonelyGirl15 came online. RIZR Z3 will make everything closer!
Other tech specs of the gadget: - network: quadband for 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks;
- battery: Li-Ion with 3 hours of speech or 8 days of stand-by mode power supply;
- measurements: 4.52 x 1.72 x 0.6 in (113 x 43 x 15 mm);
- weight: 108 g.
In the USA the official dealer of the Motorola RIZR Z3 phones will be T-Mobile. In case you long for this gadget since you ever first pronounced the words 'Hello, Moto!', you should consider signing a two years contract with T-Mobile for their services, and they'll sell you the gadget for only 0. | | | Microsoft Co-founder Sponsors Smallest Portable Device | Apr 02, 2007 | The CTIA Wireless 2007, a technology exhibition, reports a device, which was created with financial support from Paul Allen, one of the founders of Microsoft. The new ultra mobile PC FlipStart from Vulcan weight no more than 1.6 pounds but its performance is comparable to a modern laptop.
 Paul Allen didn't forget his love to gadgets, despite his leaving Microsoft about 20 years ago. Since the appearance of first models of this gadget about 3 years ago they have instantly drawn much attention of magazine editors and bloggers. And this is an indeed unusual device.
The FlipStart is based on the Intel Pentium-M CPU with a 1.1 GHz, it has 512 MB RAM an on-board video chip. This gadget is equipped with a 30 GB shock resistant hard drive, Bluetooth, WiFi and EVDO modules.
FlipStart is equipped with a 5,6 inch display, having a resolution of 1024 x 600. It can be powered by two types of batteries: a compact battery for a power supply from one to three hours or a standard power supply battery for up to 6 hours of work.
The center of its QWERTY keyboard houses the Power button and other functional and controlling keys. The touch-pad is used to control the mouse indicator. Taking into consideration the special button of the device, it is no wonder that the UMPC will work on Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Vista Business Edition.
In opinion of all experts the main advantage of the FlipStart over Pocket PCs and laptops. PPCs cannot provide much performance, even though the technology has much advanced; and laptops still require a table or something more or less flat under it. The manufacturers and the main sponsor of FlipStart say that their device can be operated 'in air'.
FlipStart is expected in April 2007 for beginning of the sales and its approximate price should be of about 00.
I guess the 2000 bucks won't be much of an obstacle for small mini gadgets... and truly understand them, because I figured FlipStart can make a mini boom on the market of portable gadgets and devices. There are so few good small gizmos, to provide people with so many functions... and to be useful in general. | | | Handsfree Bluetooth Pillow Phone - New Generation Pillow | Mar 23, 2007 | If you ask me what is the geekiest gadget I've ever, ever, EVAR seen, I'd say the Bluetooth pillow...
I mean, only think of it... this is probably the most unusual place to place a Bluetooth device. On the other hand, though, I'd think twice before pronouncing that word: "unusual".
Picture this: a guy was having... having something with his computer the whole night long (the Internet is a big junk yard, there are plenty of things to find and to do) and after only two hours of sleep his... oh no, I can't say it... his phone rings!!!
Now put yourself in the position of this poor, poor guy. This is the worst nightmare!
But check this out! He is sleeping on the Bluetooth pillow. (I doubt that though: a geek sleeping on a Bluetooth pillow: funny!) So anyway, with the gadget under his geeky head he doesn't even have to wake up and look for the phone somewhere under the stinky socks. He just pushes a button on the pillow and voila! He can speak to his annoying friend or boss or whoever else. But I guess pushing that button might sometimes be a problem.
I think the Handsfree Bluetooth Pillow Phone is something any bachelor's lair needs. I mean no more getting up, looking for the phone (just make sure it's somewhere near, because you know, all that ranges).
Some people think that the Bluetooth pillow will be followed by some other gadgets with an integrated Bluetooth function. The first thing should be a Bluetooth blanket, for the cold winter days, when everything sticking out from under the blanket is your face: you can just speak to your blanket when you have a call!
You know what? I guess from now on everything should come with an integrated Bluetooth function... you never know when you might need one. You just walk through your house and speak to the air... the walls will do the rest. However finding your mobile the next day will be a problem for sure.
OK, back to the Handsfree Bluetooth Pillow Phone. There is no information on what additional functions it will have, or what price range it'll be in, but I'm sure every sleepy guy and girl will desperately need one. I will for sure!
As a conclusion I'd like to say that the gadget as a pillow looks very nice. I just hope it's as soft as my pillow; and after each party I'll be as happy when I see the new Bluetooth gadget as I am now, thinking about my good old pillow buddy. | | | A Different Version of a Gaming PC Console | Mar 09, 2007 | Another mouse has been designed to meet the tastes of the most refined gamers: the D-Pad Mouse.
 It seems like the gamers enjoy pretty much attention from manufacturers of different gadgets. And it's actually no wonder! I guess this gaming industry brings these manufacturers billions dollars a year revenue and, I mean, they should make something innovative for them every now and then.
So what is this D-Pad Type Mouse... This is a conceptually new mouse, developed on the basis of the modern game pads and game controllers. Instead of the traditional mouse wheel there is a D-Pad controller. Something like this could be seen on just about every game console (as far as I remember, even the first Sony PlayStation had something like this on the left side of its controllers).
Another specialty of this gadget is that when you set it into this gaming mode, you can't slide it diagonally... You can't slide it otherwise than forward or backward.
They also say that this gadget is very ergonomic... and I guess it should be so. For example I can't play a game, when everything on my desktop is perfect and the thing I'm controlling my soldiers with doesn't fit perfectly my palm. So, D-Pad Mouse, be sure to pay a lot of attention to this issue, because true gamers are very sensitive creatures, especially when it comes to game consoles.
And for the desert let's talk about its outlook. I find it very somehow odd that this is a conceptual mouse, though it looks like a very ordinary mouse I had six years ago. On the other hand these four buttons replacing the wheel look rather techy on that spot.
So I don't think I ca decide whether this gadget is something I'd like to see, or to feel, in my hand; but I think I'd be able to decide when I see it or feel it in my hand. So if you'd like some juicy reviews, chip in together and send me one of these... Just kiddin'! | | | The dancing keyboard | Feb 28, 2007 | You have certainly heard about the much talked about keyboard Optimus-103 created in the Lebedev studio. Just to refresh your memory: the Optimus-103 is the keyboard with small displays on each button. The catch in that concept keyboard was not the mere fact that the displays showed the buttons' standard values, but they changed in accord with other control and/or function buttons pressed at the moment (Shift, Control, Alt). For example the standard value of the "C" key is, apparently, typing the small letter "c"; when the 'Ctrl' button is pushed, the display on the "C" button shows the current value of the key, i.e. "Copy" (depending on the software and the OS).
 The Optimus-103 is actually not the point of this post. I just wanted to prepare you a bit for the gadget I wanted to talk about. It is the another keyboard concept, but this time no Russian names; this time it is from the Korean company Luxiium Lighting & Technology. This version of keyboard is based on the idea of a gadget with colored buttons.
This conceptual gadget was named Luxeed. It will not inherit the button displays of the Optimus-103, but it will get another interesting feature: the symbols on the buttons are capable of changing their color. The total number of colors is of 512 and I think this would be enough to spice up the appearance of any workplace.
The most interesting thing about this gadget, I think, is it's 'dancing' ability. The software supplied with the gadget, enables the user to set it in such a way that the colors on the buttons change in the rhythm of the music, which is currently being played.
 I guess this dancing keyboard would look very pretty at a party or in a . I mean, you turn on some dancing music, and you see that not only your guests are dancing, but your keyboard does too.
There was no information given about the date when the Luxeed will become available in stores. The same is with its price - it is absolutely unknown.
These black holes in the history of the Luxeed should not be an obvious obstacle for those, who are already sick of their black, white or gray keyboards. I guess this is the perfect gadget to color up the lives of those geeks, who spend night and day at their computers, at programming, gaming or hacking the FBI database (though I can't picture this: a hacker with a multi-colored 'dancing' keyboard and a classic black console on the screen).
If I find out more on the gadget in the nearest future, I'll try to inform you at once. Cheers! | | | iPhone Inspires - Asus Aurora Inspired | Feb 19, 2007 | After Apple had announced its new miracle among the cell phones, many major gadget manufacturers thought "What the hell! We can do something like that too!" And some of them did so; as LG Electronics, for example, along with Prada. They joined forces to create an iPhone competition worthy phone, sharing some of the key features with the 'KING'. They named it... not very inventive I think... LG PRADA Phone.
The next in the line of those wishing to take a piece of the big cake of new generation mobiles is the very well known brand name - ASUSTeK. ASUS is a very well known manufacturer for computer motherboards and peripherals, but the phones from ASUS are also gaining popularity.
Their accomplishment in this branch is the concept phone, which was called Asus Aura. Since it is still a concept, it still has a long way ahead of it, but anyways - the idea is half the way.
Let's see what the engineers and the designers from ASUS have to offer. So the first thing to catch the eye of a potential user is the HUGE LCD screen (3,9 inch). However, this HUGE display is just a tiny piece of the iceberg, because the main features, which should attract potential buyers are the following: - the HUGE display is touch sensitive (forgot to mention... it's an iPhone imitation after all);
- 2 megapixel integrated camera;
- a series of wireless connectivity possibilities: Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi;
- not so wireless connection possibility: via miniUSB port;
- the ability to work not only with the already existing GSM networks, but with those from the next generation (HSDPA); and the last, but not the least
- ATTENTION!!! a fully functional pull-out QWERTY keyboard (if it still can be called a 'keyboard').
It would be very nice of me to say that everything I listed above has been stuffed into a case, measuring 97 x 49 x 6 mm. That's impressive, if you take into consideration the sliding keyboard!
I guess it's rather bad that this phone is still under development, because I'm sure there are a lot of people, like me, who'd like a piece of competition in this field, so that not a single giant manufacturer would have the say. When there is competition, there is some more strive for better gadgets and better thing for us, end users.
So if you ask me what I would chose between an iPhone and an Asus Aura, I'd say that an Aura. I understand that iPhone might be better, but I like giving the pretender a chance. To tell you the truth I'm quite impressed with the ideas to fit into this phone, and I figure the Asus Aura will become a decent competitive power for the iPhone... as soon it is released. |
